Our barbering program provides 1100 hours of extensive hands on learning as required for the Montana State Board of Barbers and Cosmetology. At Rituals Institute, we offer this course in two convenient schedules. The schedule depends on the start date.
Monday, Wednesday, Friday: Monday and Wednesday (8:30am-6:00pm) and Friday (8:00am-5:00pm) 25 Hours per week with 60 minute lunch break.
Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday: Tuesday and Thursday (8:30am-6:00pm) and Saturday (8:00am-5:00pm) 25 Hours per week with 60 minute lunch break.
Program Objectives
Rituals Institute’s Barbering program provides you with a complete understanding of the beauty and barber industry. Upon program completion, you will be prepared to take the Montana State Board practical and written examinations of barbering and be ready to succeed as a licensed barber. Each
l receive a Rituals Institute diploma and official transcript.
Barbering Course Timeline
Phase 1: While in this phase students will learn basic shampoo, hairstyling, scalp treatment, haircutting, clipper cutting, consultation, and infection control procedures. Students must complete 225 hours before taking clients on the clinic floor.
Phase 2: During this phase students will learn color theory/techniques, chemistry, perms, relaxers, wigs and hair theory. Students will be taking haircuts, hair styles, and scalp treatments on the clinic floor.
Phase 3: Students will begin to learn the properties of skin care. Students will learn basic facials and hair removal techniques while beginning to explore the art of shaving. Students will now be accepting chemical services on the clinic floor.
Phase 4: During this phase students will learn about the barbering business and begin to think about life after school. Students will learn Montana State Board rules and regulations as they learn and talk about their goals, jobs, relationships, and expectations. Students will begin to prepare for their state board exams. Students will be accepting facials, hair removal, and shaving guests on the clinic floor.
Phase 5: Students will practice salon life as they finish their hours on the clinic floor and prepare for their
state board exams.
